This market resolves to the period in which the US government removes Nigeria from the partial entry suspension, or restores issuance to Nigerians of at least one suspended visa category (B-1/B-2, F, M, J or immigrant visas), as published by the White House, the Federal Register, the State Department or the US Mission in Nigeria. Changes to visa bonds alone do not count.

Since 1 January 2026, most new Nigerian applicants have been unable to get US visitor, student, exchange or immigrant visas, and those who can now face bonds of up to $15,000. Nigeria sits on the 39-country restriction list and is designated a Country of Particular Concern. Travel agents report empty seats on US routes. Washington says the restrictions can lift if Nigeria meets its standards on overstays and security cooperation. For every student and japa dreamer, this is the market.
